Building Strong Foundations
The 2027 Grant Cycle will support programs and initiatives that strengthen the well-being, resilience, connectedness, and future potential of individuals, organizations, and communities across the Wood Buffalo region.
Investing in People, Place and Possibility reflects the belief that thriving communities are built through strong relationships, inclusive spaces, and opportunities for growth. The Foundation welcomes initiatives that foster well-being, stability, inclusion, connection, and opportunity across urban, rural, and Indigenous communities. Projects may address areas such as mental health, housing stability, workforce development, community belonging, cultural connection, and other community priorities that contribute to the long-term health and vibrancy of the region.
People: Supporting the health, well-being, resilience, and potential of individuals and families through access to services, skills, relationships, leadership opportunities, and community supports.
Place: Strengthening communities by fostering belonging, inclusion, cultural vibrancy, and supportive environments that contribute to safe, welcoming, and connected communities, including rural, Indigenous, and underserved areas.
Possibility: Creating opportunities for learning, leadership, innovation, creativity, cultural expression, economic participation, and personal growth that contribute to a vibrant future for Wood Buffalo.
WBCF will be offering virtual and in-person applicant information sessions to provide guidance on the grant theme, application process, and budget development. Please check back regularly for session dates and registration information.
Shell albian sands environment grant
The 2027 intake is currently being finalized. Program guidelines, funding levels, and application dates will be released at a later date.
Applications will be accepted for the following programs/initiatives: Environmental initiative(s) that focus on environmental education; renewable energy, energy conservation, and/or climate change; land, habitat, and wildlife conservation.
DEADLINE: Pending
Maximum available funding: approximately $8500.
Scotiabank Wildfire Prevention and Disaster Relief Grant
The 2027 intake is currently being finalized. Program guidelines, funding levels, and application dates will be released at a later date.
Applications will be accepted for programs and initiatives that support wildfire prevention and disaster relief and/or recovery efforts.
DEADLINE: Pending
Maximum available funding: approximately $19,660.
